YKK AP America Inc. held a ribbon cutting ceremony last week, marking the official opening of its first greenfield residential manufacturing facility in Macon-Bibb County, Georgia.

The event was held in Macon with commissioner Pat Wilson of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Mayor Lester Miller, of Macon-Bibb County, chairperson Robby Fountain, of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, and other local leaders in attendance.

“YKK AP’s expansion into a new, leading-edge facility is a testament to its strong connection with our community,” said Miller. “This ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in our relationship, offering more opportunities to enrich our economy, improve the lives of our families, and strengthen our position as a hub of innovation and industry.”

The facility completed construction in December 2023 and began operations in January 2024. It currently employs more than 250 in the Macon community.

“This week’s event marked more than a celebration of our new residential manufacturing facility. With our purpose to build a better society through architectural products, this facility symbolizes not only our growth, but the confidence we have in our business and employees moving forward,” said Oliver Stepe, president and CEO of YKK AP America Inc. “We’re grateful to the state of Georgia, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, and to all of our partners for helping us celebrate this important milestone in our company’s journey.”
