What Is VSC’s +Vantage Vinyl Verification and Which Companies Made the List?

July 20th, 2023 by Editor

The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC) announced this week that 26 of its members achieved +Vantage Vinyl verification for 2023. The +Vantage Vinyl program was established in 2019 as a voluntary initiative to advance the industry’s contribution to sustainable development through continuous improvement. To achieve verification, companies are assessed by GreenCircle Certified LLC, a third-party certification company that’s based in Royersford, Pa. GreenCircle authenticates and reports on activities and key performance indicators achieved by each company within five areas: environmental stewardship, social diligence, economic soundness, collaboration and open communications.

Participation is open to any company in the vinyl supply chain operating in the U.S. and is meant to “signal to the market your commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement,” VSC officials said.

The program’s guiding principles support improved industry performance across three material impact categories: resource efficiency, emissions, and health and safety, each of which is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Among the companies verified for 2023 are:

  • Aurora Plastics;
  • Cornerstone Building Brands;
  • Formosa Plastics;
  • GEON Performance Solutions;
  • Shintech Incorporated;
  • Sika Corp.;
  • Teknor Apex; and
  • Westlake Corp.
  • “The vinyl industry is redoubling its efforts to drive sustainability across organizations—from product development to a product’s life cycle, to a company’s environment stewardship and its engagement in its community,” said VSC executive director Jay Thomas. “+Vantage Vinyl is an important standard that identifies leaders in this endeavor. Congratulations to all 26 companies that earned the +Vantage Vinyl verification.”
