Thermal Industries Celebrates Big 5-0

March 22nd, 2010 by Editor

Thermal Industries will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year as a manufacturer of vinyl replacement windows and patio doors. The company got its start 1957 when its founder, David H. Weis, a salesman for an aluminum extrusion company, walked into a remodeling contractor’s office and saw a vinyl extrusion for a storm door frame, according to a press release from the company.

“But what David Weis envisioned that day was to be the birth of a new kind of window that would revolutionize the way windows are manufactured to this day,” says David Rascoe, president of Thermal Industries.

Three years later, in 1960, Weis opened the Modern White Manufacturing Co., a vinyl storm window fabricator. In 1964, the company introduced a custom vinyl replacement window.

Over the years, the company has been recognized by ENERGY STAR® Qualified Products Program as a “Retail Partner of the Year;” as a green award nominee by DWM magazine; among other honors.
