Machines by Sturtz are often on display at various industry events.

Stürtz Machinery Inc. (SMI) of Twinsburg, Ohio, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the United States this January. This milestone follows its parent company’s 70th anniversary in 2016.

After entering the North American market through distributors in the early ’90s, Stürtz opened its U.S. operation on January 14, 1997. Starting off with five employees in a small office, the operation quickly expanded to a manufacturing plant in Solon, Ohio, which housed the operation for the next 11 years. In 2009, SMI moved to its current facility in Twinsburg, Ohio.

“The past 20 years has been quite a ride,” says Ellis Dillen, president and CEO of SMI. “From the beginning in a small office, through the boom years of the early 2000s, the downturn created by the housing crash right up to the current strong market we are in, SMI has been a leader in technology and innovation in the North American fenestration industry. Our talented and stable workforce has provided the foundation for our success. We are proud to have a number of employees who have been with us for over 15 of these 20 years, and two of us will be celebrating our 20th year along with the company.”

He adds, however, that none of this would be possible without the company’s loyal customers.

“We want to take this time to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who put their trust in us and have made this possible,” he said. “With their continued confidence and support, we look forward to the next 20 years.”
