Spahn and Rose Acquires Dunn Lumber
March 12th, 2019 by Drew Vass, Executive EditorOfficials for Spahn and Rose Lumber announced that their company recently acquired Lake Geneva, Wis.-based Dunn Lumber. In a move that he says is, “a win-win for everyone,” Spahn and Rose CEO Dave Davis says, “Dunn Lumber is a wonderful family business with the same corporate philosophy as Spahn and Rose. It treats customers like family.”
Family-owned Dunn Lumber was founded in 1984 and consists of three business segments: lumber and building materials (including windows), hardware and rental. The business serves professional builders, remodelers and homeowners throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
Established in 1904, Spahn and Rose is a lumber and building materials distributor with 24 locations throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. According to officials, 85 percent of the company’s sales go to professional contractors.
The acquisition of Dunn Lumber marks the second of major changes for the company over the past year, including a consolidation in June 2018 that combined its Readlyn, Iowa, and Waverly Iowa, locations. The move, officials said, was designed to increase efficiencies.
Dunn Lumber was recently named the 2019 Wisconsin Retail Lumber Association’s Dealer of the Year. Current owners, Mike and Terry Dunn, plan to retire after the completion of the transaction, a company news release states. The acquisition will enable Spahn and Rose to build on their successes, officials say, by providing the company with additional business efficiencies and resources.
Davis says the location will continue to operate under the Dunn Lumber brand name and that his company has no plans to alter Dunn’s marketing focus or local management.
