As the demand for the one-stop shop continues, S.I.L. Plastics, based in Woodbridge, Ontario, has launched SIL Fasteners, and is also expanding into the U.S. market. S.I.L. Plastics, a family-owned business launched in 1978, provides custom mouldings for a variety of applications including doors and windows.

“Our window and door customers were looking for someone to supply them with screws, fasteners and metal components,” says Stefan Ifko, president. So SIL Fasteners was started to provide those products to its current customer base. The reception so far has been “fantastic” says Ifko.

He explains that the company is also working to come up with different colors and designs for its customers to help them stand out. For example, SIL Fasteners is working to design custom tilt latches at the request of its customers to help with that differentiation.

The company also just launched a set of shipping components for doors and windows. “Nothing can go wrong if it’s shipped with this,” said Ifko. This line also includes door corner protectors, ergonomic lift handles, gliders for the bottom of windows and doors and a fiberglass clip to prevent shifting of the door. It also offers similar products for glass such as rubber corner protectors.

To help with the U.S. push, the company will exhibit at many of the fall trade shows including GlassBuild America and Windoor North America.
