Quanex Building Products is continuing its work with Zane State College to bring continuing-education opportunities free of charge to its employees through an innovative program that provides 200 training hours and eight college credit hours.

This effort brings higher education to the community while helping employees enhance their workplace skills, and in turn, improve product and quality.

“It is really nice to work with companies like Quanex who are willing to invest in their employees,” said Tracey Tonnous, the workforce training supervisor with Zane State College. “This group was particularly engaged, and you can see they appreciate the company they work for taking the time to help them learn and grow as professionals.”

Eight Quanex technicians participated in the fourth offering of the Quanex process technician training program. Students took courses in hydraulics and pneumatics, industrial electricity, leadership and team building, lockout/tagout hazard training, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10 (OSHA 10) and computer training. Many of the credits the students earned can be applied toward a two-year degree at Zane State, which is located in Zanesville, Ohio.

Quanex employees who participated in the fourth offering include Scott Harper, Aaron Huff, Tyler Markley, Chad Bond, James Tipton, Joe Curtain, Andy Rutter and Zack Green.
