Pella Recalls Windows Due to Faulty Hinges

December 22nd, 2023 by Editor

Pella issued a recall for its Architect Series casement windows after discovering that sashes could fall out. Side pivot hinges from a third-party supplier used in some of the windows don’t meet welding specifications, officials said. Affected windows were delivered between January 1, 2021, and July 14, 2023. According to the recall, sashes could separate from their frames if a hinge weld fails and fall out completely if someone tries to open the window.

Pella provides a specific list of affected windows and recall instructions on its website. The company advises keeping windows closed and locked, while offering to replace the faulty hinges for free.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, so far no one has reported an injury from the recalled windows.
