WMA Event Has a Different Look This Year
Since 1964, World Millwork Alliance’s Annual Convention and Trade Show has titled itself “the premier event solely focused on the millwork industry.” In its 57th year, the show will try something new by commingling its wood mouldings with another material: glass. After announcing a collocation with GlassBuild America (see our separate preview on p36), both events are set to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center October 18-20, where WMA officials say they want to retain their show’s identity.
“Several of our member supplier companies exhibit at both of our shows, and this is another opportunity to expand our horizons as our members
respond to supply chain and labor challenges, among other pressures,” said WMA president and CEO Rosalie Leone.
The event begins with a “Meeting of Millwork Minds” on Monday, October 17, including a full day of networking opportunities. WMA leadership will
then provide updates and share what’s new with the association, before launching into business discussions. The trade show opens Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., where it looks to draw glass aficionados into the world of wood.

Booth #5302: CAI Ponderosa
CAI Ponderosa will demonstrate the latest enhancements to its cost-price-quote (CPQ) tool for door shop or special-order manufacturers. According to the company, its product configurator and web-based CPQ tool streamlines and error-proofs order entry, providing an efficient means for submitting quotes and placing orders. Options for doors, windows and millwork products can be presented as graphical images, along with costing and pricing information so you can quickly see exact margins. Simply select, view and price the desired size, slab type, trim and other options, while upselling transoms and enhancements.
Booth #4319: CMPC Maderas
CMPC wants to sell attendees on its Radiata Pine mouldings, trim boards and shiplap, which officials say are “extraordinarily versatile and of great dimensional stability.” The company achieves those qualities by offering the appropriate density to allow for optimal use in various construction projects. Company officials say its trim boards, mouldings and wood products reflect a “dynamic spirit” and an attention to quality and details, as it seeks to fulfill its mission for delivering the most sustainable wood to different decorative and construction projects worldwide.
Booth #3313: Demountable Concepts
As companies look to streamline loading and delivery processes, Demountable Concepts will introduce them to the idea of swapping straight truck bodies. The company’s Swap Body Delivery Solution allows trucks to change out bodies that stand on retractable legs. While the truck is out with a loaded body making deliveries, alternate bodies can be loaded and prepared back at the warehouse. When a truck returns, the empty body is swapped out for a loaded body speeding up departure and deliveries. According to company information, “Drivers just swap and go in ten minutes.”
According to company officials, its system allows trucks to arrive at their first delivery earlier, make more deliveries per day and, in some instances, provide same-day deliveries. Demountable bodies also help to control fleet costs by reducing the number of power units required to deliver the same amount of product, the company suggests.
Booth #2321: Egger Wood Products
Egger’s Ultralight MDF Mouldings will be on display, which company officials say are the perfect decorative element to enhance any room and convey a sense of style. The product’s uniform and defect-free surface delivers a smooth finish and, according to company information, its Ultralight MDF Moulding is easier to handle and install compared to MDF mouldings of standard weight.
As a dimensionally stable engineered product, Egger’s lightweight mouldings won’t warp, split or twist. They’re double coated with an environmentally friendly, white, water-based primer and also offered in a pre-painted finish, allowing for faster and more cost-effective installations.
With an extensive assortment of profile templates and an in-house engineering department, Egger manufactures a wide variety of standard mouldings, boards and paneling profiles, but also develops specific and customized products to fulfill unique project requirements.
Booth #3295: G-M Wood Products
G-M Wood Products will exhibit its full line of rot-resistant, premium exterior door frame components, all of which include a lifetime warranty. The company recently launched a fully finished option with Dura-Tech FX. Dura-Tech FX is built on the company’s patented, rot-resistant Dura-Frame technology and coated with a fully finished, impact and heat resistant acrylic film. The product is available in four solid colors and four woodgrain colors, and features a lifetime warranty.
Booth 4289: GlassCraft Door Company
Officials for GlassCraft say its FiberCraft NP-Series doors are “the strongest, most durable and best-looking composite doors available.” FiberCraft NP-Series doors look and feel like steel, and at the show, they’re looking to prove it.
The company’s FiberCraft Narrow Profile Series will also be on display, which includes a lifetime warranty on the door and a five-year warranty on finish performance. The Narrow Profile True Divided Lite series (NP-TDL) features separate insulating glass panels and solid construction (no foam), with moisture-resistant top and bottom rails, and lock-blocks on one door edge. Available as an individual door panel or as a complete pre-hung door unit, the company’s doors will accept most brands of door hardware.
Booth #4295 – FrontLine Bldg. Products Inc.
FrontLine expanded its product offerings to provide cleaner sight lines and easier application of entry door cladding systems. The company introduced a clad jamb cover that allows for a one-piece, maintenance-free aluminum cover for jamb depths of up to 89/16 inches (FLTA-81). The product offers easy application, flexibility and no seams.
The company also introduced the FLTA-61, a new 5/8-inch frame expander that integrates with a patented locking leg design, allowing customers to build out jambs in 5/8-inch increments. The product makes it cost effective and easy to convert industry standard jambs ranging from 49/16 to 71/4 inches.
Booth #2295 – Masonite
Masonite will feature a full lineup of products, including its new M-Pwr Smart Doors—the first residential exterior doors to integrate power, lights a video doorbell and a smart lock into the door system.
The company’s Solid Core Doors feature 70% more sound-dampening material than its standard hollow doors, and officials say the Performance Door System is 64% better at keeping air and water out than the leading competitor, based on certified third-party testing.
Other products set to be on display include DuraStyle exterior wood doors, which can deliver up to 22 times the protection against water penetration compared to exterior wood doors without the same AquaSeal technology.
Booth #3289 – Menzner Mouldings
In a play on words (from poker) Menzner is inviting WMA attendees to “design a full house” with its mouldings. Officials say this year’s booth
will feature its full line of top-quality moulding and millwork offerings, which are made using “cutting edge technology and advanced practices.”
The company offers a range of profiles across 23 types of mouldings, including primed poplar, veneered and surface boards. To ensure the highest quality, officials say the company staffs well-trained quality control personnel, skilled operators, and a tooling crew that “has an eye for precise detail.”
Booth #4306 – Millpar Moulding Co.
Officials for Millpar say their company “transforms wood into high end millwork products” for use worldwide. According to company information, its purpose includes sourcing renewable forest resources, in a sustainable way, for the well-being of society.
With two industrial plants and 915,000 square feet of area, officials say it’s the second largest mouldings manufacturer in Brazil and the fourth largest in Latin America. The company’s extensive lineup of products includes mouldings, door jambs and frames, S4S trim boards, shiplaps and tongue-and-groove wall planks, as well as window components, edge-glued panels and finger-joint blanks.
In addition to Taeda pine, Millpar also developed products made from Eucalyptus, a hardwood that officials say offers better resistance to damage than most softwoods.
Booth #6294 – ODL Inc.
ODL hopes to gather attention to its one-of-a-kind offerings at the show, including Celebration glass. Available in two color options, Earth and Ocean, each piece of Celebration is unique and handcrafted. Both designs are available in the company’s flat-profile Zeel frame, as well as its Spotlights Collection.
ODL also added a new glass collection, called Lightscapes, which officials say is inspired by the relationship between light and opacity. Lightscapes
allows nature to light an entryway using different treatments to create patterns of privacy. One of the newest Lightscapes designs, Swirl, is an etched pattern inspired by organic lines.
Booth #4288 – RSL
RSL will display many of its new contemporary steel door and door glass designs at the show, which officials say provide unique curb appeal and styles that are suited to any architecture.
With four collections, 18 styles range from Craftsman, Shaker and a more refined Prestige Collection, to the trendy and contemporary Design Collection and a timeless Classic Collection.
Booth #2318 – Tru Tech Doors
Tru Tech will bring a new line of fiberglass doors to the event, which officials say align with the company’s vision for a “balanced and contemporary lifestyle.” A full product line offers an array of high-quality fiberglass, steel and decorative door styles, including a new Harbour Craft Estate line of fiberglass doors, with a crisp, modern aesthetic, and “Edge” and “Shaker” embossment profiles. The Harbour Craft Estate series features a new satin smooth finish, as well as textured stainable and Mahogany grains, all of which have a premium surface that’s ideal for pre-finishing.
Booth #5318 – Woodgrain Millwork Inc.
Woodgrain plans to feature its Design Collection of doors, which are made of medium density fiberboard (MDF) and include both 13/8-inch and 13/4-inch options. The Design Collection is available in panel, bifold and fire-rated configurations and include “infinite design options by combining cutting edge technology and old-fashioned craftsmanship,” the company states. The door provider uses techniques developed from decades of wood door manufacturing to “build a better door,” officials suggest.
Booth #3302 – WoodWare Systems
WoodWare Systems will provide demos of its Item Dimensional Control Program. Officials say the company’s Var-I-Frame, which is used for configuring interior and exterior doors and windows with no bill of materials, has been a millwork industry leader since its introduction.
When a mantle company was added to WoodWare’s list of partners, new input helped to greatly expand the functionality of Var-I-Frame, which now offers 26 variables that can be formula-driven to handle manufacturing for practically any product needed, with cut lists, inventory control, cost and pricing.
Booth #2307 – Worldwide Door Components Inc.
Those looking for new door components will want to swing by Worldwide Door Components’ booth to see its patented 4Ever Sill, a fully composite threshold. The product is designed as a “next-generation” door sill, offering durable, high-impact composite materials that eliminate the “chatter” and denting associated with aluminum. A UV protection is designed to withstand the intense heat of summer months.
