Energy Star Proposes What Makes a ‘Most Efficient Window’ in 2016

As part of Energy Star’s Most Efficient 2016 project, the government organization has released a document that proposes how residential windows can qualify for the recognition.

In order to be considered “most efficient,” windows must meet three criteria:

  1. They must be Energy Star certified.
  2. Products must be independently certified to meet the North American Fenestration Standard/Specification with a performance grade greater than or equal to 15.
  3. They must meet the following U-Factors and solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC):
