Crystal Window & Door Systems is supplying new energy-efficient replacement windows for the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, N.Y. The major window replacement project’s first phase calls for the installation of over 2,700 aluminum windows in two guest room wings of the 11-story hotel. The window replacement project is part of a planned $25 million, 2- to 3-year renovation which also includes the hotel lobby, bar and other interior areas.

The landmark hotel is adjacent to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum arena, former home to the New York Islanders hockey team and venue for many music concerts and major entertainment events over the years. With 618 guest rooms, the hotel is the largest on Long Island.

Crystal assisted the hotel’s design and construction team throughout the process.

“Prior to being awarded the window contract, Crystal sales and engineering staffs worked closely with the project construction managers, fenestration contractor, hotel owners and Marriott corporate officials to value engineer the window replacement project,” said Robert Dorsky, Crystal’s Long Island sales manager. “Crystal also supplied full size mockups, arranged field testing and provided a complete set of very detailed shop drawings.”

Crystal is supplying the Long Island Marriott Hotel project with 2,731 aluminum Series 8500 casement and Series 8510 fixed picture windows. The windows will be horizontally ganged together in combinations from two to six to fill 267 building openings. The Series 8500 optional continuous master frame system or 3-piece mullions are used to combine the individual windows.

Crystal Windows began production and shipping windows for the renovation project in November 2016. Window production will continue over the next few months and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2017.

The fenestration installation contractor is Action Storefronts of West Islip, N.Y. The construction manager for the work is Axis Construction Corporation of Hauppauge, N.Y., and building envelope consulting services for the project are provided by Gilsanz Murray Steficek (GMS) Engineers & Architects of New York City. The property is owned by 101 Uniondale LLP and The Witkoff Group LLC and is part of the Marriott national hotel chain.
