Crystal Windows Launches Employee Health Initiative

Crystal Window & Door Systems, in conjunction with New York-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital and the Chinese American Nursing Association (CANA), recently provided free screenings for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to more than 70 of its employees.  Crystal Windows was the first joint initiative with the private business community by the hospital and will serve as a pilot for other future efforts.

COPD is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the USA. Smoking is the major contributing cause of COPD.

“Since smoking is very prevalent amongst Asian immigrants and since Crystal has a high percentage of immigrant workers, I felt this was an important test to offer our employees,” said Thomas Chen, Crystal Windows’ founder and CEO. “The earlier health problems can be identified, the more likely and the sooner they can be resolved. Promoting the health and wellbeing of our family of employees is very important to me and the Crystal management.”

In the past, Crystal Windows has offered and facilitated other employee health initiatives, including smoking-cessation programs, morning and noontime stretch exercise classes, and free fruit for healthy workday snacking.
