The purchase of the former Northrop Grumman Corp. building “could signal the largest addition of new manufacturing jobs in the Scranton area in a decade,” according to a report from the Scranton Times-Tribune.

Crystal purchased the building for $5 million from Greystone Site Solutions, of King of Prussia, Pa., according to the Times-Tribune.

“We intend to be manufacturing windows and doors there by early next year,” Bob Nyman, a spokesman for Crystal Windows, told the newspaper. “This facility is part of a national expansion plan.”

More details will be revealed in a press conference scheduled for Oct. 16 at the facility.

The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce worked for two years to put the deal together, according to the Times-Tribune.

“This has been a long, complicated process with a lot of moving parts,” Chamber president Robert Durkin told the newspaper.

The acquisition complements Crystal’s portfolio of production facilities which includes Chicago, Union, Mo., Riverside, Calif., and its flagship facility in New York City.

Crystal Window & Door Systems is one of the top 35 manufacturers in North America of replacement and new-construction vinyl and aluminum door and window products and high-end fenestration systems.  2015 marks Crystal’s 25th year of operation.
