Coeur d’Alene Window Company on 2020 Inc. 5000

August 24th, 2020 by Brigid O'Leary

Coming in at 2,763 on Inc. magazine’s 5000 list of fast growing companies was Coeur d’Alene Window Company in Spokane, Wash. The manufacturer of vinyl windows and patio doors focuses on vivid color options and energy-efficient windows for the housing market. The Inc. list represents the top successful American independent small businesses; businesses that aren’t necessarily competing on the national stage.

“We operate mainly in the Western United States, not on a national scale. Being recognized by Inc. Magazine just means a little less work establishing who we are leaving more time to talk about what we do and how we can serve our customers,” said Coeur d’Alene Window Company president Mark McVay, who first heard the company made the list about a month ago, but couldn’t share the news until this week.

Having to keep mum about the news didn’t diminish the significance of the news and what it can mean for the company.

“We were excited. We have focused on growth. Without it, a window manufacturer, especially a small one can be at a real disadvantage. This business runs on the ability to turn inventory and purchase in quantities that will allow us to compete on a level playing field,” McVay added.

Being included on Inc.’s 5000 list can be a big deal. Many well-known brands such as Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, and Microsoft got their first national exposure as small businesses on the Inc. 5000 list, and the recognition has buoyed the spirits of everyone at Coeur d’Alene Window Company.

“Our production team was excited. They have put in a lot of work over the past year. In the last 12 months, they have purchased and installed all new welding equipment, new corner cleaners, increased finishing capacity in our Euro-finish (painted profiles) department and improved our facilities by adding new dock doors. It was especially nice to hear in light of the current situation with Covid-19. Our sales team has kept up the growth this year as well. It gives our sales team a little confidence to know that they are good at what they do,” McVay said.

Good at what they do, indeed, considering the company’s three year revenue growth of 146%, which may have played a factor in putting the company on the list. A press release from Inc. magazine, the publication describes the companies on the 2020 Inc. 5000 as having a median rate of growth of 165% growth over three-years, and that puts Coeur d’Alene Window Company right in the thick of things with other companies.

“The companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 come from nearly every realm of business,” Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk said in the press release. “From health and software to media and hospitality, the 2020 list proves that no matter the sector, incredible growth is based on the foundations of tenacity and opportunism.”

The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring the companies on the list will be held virtually from October 23 to 27, 2020.
