Chelsea Building Products Announces Edge Award WinnersOctober 11th, 2013 by Editor
Chelsea Building Products recently announced the winners of its Edge Award contest, held earlier in 2013, which recognizes its customers’ innovation and creativity in the door and window industry. The award acknowledges projects in one of three categories: Replacement Application, New Construction Application and Multi-Family Application/Light Commercial.
Bonded Insulated Products entered and won the Light Commercial Installation Application. Bonded’s winning project included the fabrication of 20 replacement windows, built with 7/8-inch clear tempered safety glass using Quanex Super Spacer.
Harvey Goodman, president of Bonded Insulated Products says, “The windows used for the project were from our TrustGard® Series window line. For added strength, we constructed them with reinforced frames and sash.”
Bonded assembled the vinyl windows for Martell’s Tiki Bar, located in Jenkinson’s Pavilion, 308 Boardwalk, Point Pleasant Borough, N.J. During Hurricane Sandy in October of 2012, this entire area was severely affected, nearly demolishing the pavilion with its high wind and high tides.
Goodman adds, “Martell’s was virtually torn apart and partially demolished by Hurricane Sandy. We provided the windows and the doors to help restore the restaurant. We are proud to be part of the ‘Jersey Strong®’ rebuilding effort to restore this hard-hit New Jersey shore area.”
WeatherBarr was another Edge Award winner. The company entered and won the New Construction Installation Application category. Their Oklahoma project features the 9230 Cornerstone Series window line that includes casements, single hungs and a variety of special-shaped windows. All windows for this project utilize WeatherBarr’s energy efficient Energy Smart 1 glass package.
Hundreds of houses that amount to thousands of windows have been built using WeatherBarr’s Cornerstone series windows. Mike Barr, president of WeatherBarr says, “The Cornerstone series is a great example of the quality that we put into every product. We build our windows with the finest American made components and are proud of it. After all, every home needs a Cornerstone.”
Mark Barr, vice president of sales for WeatherBarr adds, “What makes this project unique is that we utilize our ColorGard ESC coating program for each installation. We carry a line of 12 standard colors so that the houses the windows go into really stand out from the rest. The vibrant window color makes each house look dramatically different.”
