B.F. Rich Windows & Doors Recognized as Top Seller in DOE’s R-5 program
January 11th, 2011 by EditorB.F. Rich, based in Newark, Del., has been recognized as a “2010 Top Seller” in the U.S. Department of Energy’s High-Performance R-5 Windows program for the third quarter of 2010 with its Cabernet Elite Green Shield triple-glazed window.
The mission of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Program is to coordinate volume purchases of R-5 windows, and low-E storm windows and to expand the market of these high-efficiency products. The DOE R-5 Windows Program matches qualified suppliers and qualified purchasers to stimulate demand for advanced energy-efficient windows. There are currently 35 companies who have qualified to participate in the R-5 windows program.
To meet the challenges of the program, B.F. Rich has developed a new R-5 qualified product using dual-glazed technology.
“These dual-glazed R-5 qualified windows are substantially more affordable then triple-glazed windows and should help to move the program forward,” says Terry Rex, vice president of marketing for B.F. Rich.
Rex will be part of a special panel discussion on R-5 windows to be held during Fenestration Day. The event, sponsored by DWM magazine, will be held April 7 in Indianapolis. Additional panelists include Graham Parker, PNNL and Gary Delman, president of Sunrise Windows.
