ANSI Updates Codes for Doors, Windows

August 28th, 2015 by Editor

Attention, door and window industry insiders: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has updated a couple of its codes.

Fire Tests

The updated standards of fire tests for doors and windows are explained starting on page 25 of the latest newsletter.  One example includes reading and recording furnace pressures at intervals not exceeding 10 seconds. Previous standards did not include the words “and recorded” and had the intervals at one minute.

Builders Hardware

The next comes from the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA). The association says the standards for power- and manual-operated revolving pedestrian doors, butts and hinges and bored and presassembled locks and latches are due for their five-year revision cycle.
