Andersen Named Energy Star Partner of the Year

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Andersen Corporation, including its subsidiaries, with a 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year – Product Brand Owner Award for its contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about energy efficiency.

Andersen, which has been an Energy Star partner since the windows program began in 1998,  was the first window manufacturer awarded the ENERGY STAR National Window Partner of the Year in 1999.

In 2015, Andersen’s top three Energy Star-related accomplishments included:
1. Launching a new triple pane glass option for A-Series windows that meets the Energy Star Most Efficient criteria for 2015. Andersen also launched a self-monitoring option for VeriLock sensors, a smart home innovation that notifies homeowners if their windows are closed and locked, which promotes energy efficiency.

2. Executing an integrated marketing effort to promote the “Why Andersen Corporation Supports Energy Star” consumer education video. Prominently featured as the lead video on Andersen’s YouTube channel, this video has been linked to multiple internal and external web pages, social media channels and media articles, and highlighted at trade shows.

3. Demonstrating leadership in the company’s operations. Andersen was the first door and window manufacturer – and only the second company in the building industry – to sign the Ceres Climate Declaration and to declare a public operational energy reduction goal. Andersen also repeatedly educated employees about Energy Star, including creating a custom Energy Star project on its internal social media platform and challenging every employee to participate in the Energy Star Pledge.

“We are honored to receive the 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award,” said Sal Abbate, Andersen’s senior vice president, chief sales and marketing officer. “As the first window company to ever win the award back in 1999, we have had a long commitment to educating consumers about the critical importance of selecting energy-efficient windows that last. The Energy Star brand helps consumers make wise decisions about energy efficiency throughout their home. Lowering energy consumption is a win for all of us, as well as the right thing to do for the environment.”
